La ambición, las relaciones de poder, el estatus social, las desigualdades, las decisiones desde arriba a abajo, la competitividad… imposible no hacer cualquiera de estas lecturas en Stay here, intervención artística de Alejandro Ginés (Sevilla, 1984), quien resultó ganador del VI Concurso de Intervenciones Artísticas en las Torres Hejduk, convocado entre los y las participantes del Encontro de Artistas Novos ( EAN) 2018. 

Se trata de una pieza escultórica, a modo de torre coronada por una silla plegable, que convierte las edificaciones ideadas por John Hejduk —y construidas por Peter Eisenman en el Gaiás a modo de homenaje— en una especie de ingeniosa matrioska, en la que a través de Stay here se invita a la participación de quien la ve, tanto en su posible manejo, como en sus múltiples lecturas. 

Este artefacto cinético establece paralelismos con ciertos comportamiento de la sociedad actual, como el excesivo fomento de individualismo (una única silla), el poder (solo una persona puede sentarse y en la cumbre) o estatus social (perspectiva desigualitaria; por encima del resto). 

Stay here está instalada en la Torre Hejduk de cristal, mientras que en la opaca estará expuesta, sobre una base alzada, la maqueta de la obra a escala 1:10. Se debe destacar que el jurado valoró a la hora de elegir este proyecto la presencia de lo cinético y lo cotidiano para sugerir nuevas miradas y evocaciones. 

Precisamente, a lo largo de su trayectoria creativa, Alejandro Ginés se caracteriza por mensajes artísticos que nos hablan de la dificultad del ser humano de encontrar un lugar en el mundo, al tiempo que se nos invita a una reflexión crítica, social e individual, dentro de un contexto actual complejo.

Ambition, power relations, social status, inequalities, top-down decisions, competitiveness… it is impossible not to make any of these readings in Stay here, an artistic intervention by Alejandro Ginés (Seville, 1984), who won the VI Contest of Artistic Interventions in the Hejduk Towers, called among the participants of the Encontro de Artistas Novos (EAN) 2018. 

It is a sculptural piece, like a tower crowned by a folding chair, which turns the buildings designed by John Hejduk -and built by Peter Eisenman in the Gaiás as a tribute- into a kind of ingenious matryoshka, in which Stay here invites the participation of the viewer, both in its possible handling and in its multiple readings. 

This kinetic artifact draws parallels with certain behaviors of today’s society, such as the excessive promotion of individualism (a single chair), power (only one person can sit and at the top) or social status (unequal perspective; above the rest). 

Stay here is installed in the glass Hejduk Tower, while in the opaque one will be exposed, on a raised base, the model of the work at 1:10 scale. It should be noted that the jury valued when choosing this project the presence of the kinetic and the everyday to suggest new looks and evocations. 

Precisely, throughout his creative career, Alejandro Ginés is characterized by artistic messages that speak of the difficulty of human beings to find a place in the world, while inviting us to a critical reflection, social and individual, within a complex current context.
